How to Unlink Facebook and Instagram: A Step-by-Step Guide

In today’s digital age, social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram have become an integral part of our daily lives. However, there may come a time when you decide that you no longer want these two accounts linked together. Whether it’s for privacy reasons or simply to declutter your online presence, unlinking Facebook and Instagram is a straightforward process that can be done in just a few simple steps.

Step 1: Open the Instagram App

Begin by opening the Instagram app on your mobile device. Make sure you are logged into the account that is currently linked to your Facebook profile.

Step 2: Go to Your Profile

Navigate to your profile by tapping on the profile icon located in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Access Settings

Once you are on your profile page, look for the three horizontal lines or dots (depending on your device) in the top right corner of the screen. Tap on this icon to access the settings menu.

Step 4: Select Linked Accounts

Scroll down until you find the “Settings” option. Tap on it and then select “Account.”

Step 5: Choose Linked Accounts

Under the Account settings, locate and tap on “Linked Accounts.” This will show you all the accounts that are currently linked to your Instagram profile.

Step 6: Unlink Facebook

Look for Facebook among the list of linked accounts and tap on it. You will then see an option to unlink this account from Instagram. Confirm your decision by selecting “Unlink” when prompted.

Step 7: Confirm Unlinking

Instagram will ask you to confirm that you want to unlink your Facebook account. Once you confirm, the two accounts will be unlinked, and any shared data between them will be removed.

Step 8: Check Unlinking Status

To ensure that the unlinking process was successful, go back to your profile settings and check under Linked Accounts to verify that Facebook is no longer connected.

By following these simple steps, you can easily unlink your Facebook and Instagram accounts and regain control over your online presence. Remember that once you unlink these two accounts, any cross-platform sharing features will be disabled until you choose to link them again.
